About the course

The Legal Studies program offers a major situated in Weinberg College, but open to Northwestern undergraduates in all schools.

　　Legal Studies offers undergraduates the chance to engage in exciting, critical work with professors from all over Northwestern, the Law School, and the professional world, with courses in a variety of innovative topics. Recent favorites include Reality TV and Legal Theory, Gender, Sexuality and Carceral State, Animal Law, and Constitutional Law I and II.

　　It is not a pre-law program. Legal Studies conceives of law broadly to include the study of legal institutions, legal actors, and legal processes. Law, broadly conceived, is a social institution that provides an excellent lens through which students may learn about and critically examine a variety of themes central to other disciplines, shedding light on both the understanding of law as well as debates central to those disciplines. How to apply

Entry requirements for Northwestern University

Official secondary school transcript and school report. SAT or ACT scores. Northwestern accepts results from both the TOEFL and the IELTS. There is no minimum score required by Northwestern. Competitive applicants demonstrate a high level of English proficiency and often score in the high range on all four sections (Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing) of the TOEFL iBT, or receive IELTS band scores in highest three bands on the overall and individual scores (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking).
