The program enables students to organize their courses around a practical or theoretical problem in contemporary or historical European society or culture that is applicable to one or several countries.
The Center for European and Mediterranean Studies (CEMS) offers an interdisciplinary major and minor in European and Mediterranean studies focusing on contemporary patterns of politics, culture, and society, as well as on historical developments in Europe and the European-Mediterranean region. Majors may choose to write a senior honors thesis, involving one-on-one research with CEMS faculty.
