About the course

To present students with the basic theoretical tools of economic analysis, relevant facts and institutional material, which will assist them as civic leaders.To introduce students majoring in economics to the various special fields of study within economics. This training, along with extensive work in the other liberal arts and sciences, is intended to instill breadth of intellectual interest, critical habits of thought, a problem-solving attitude and facility of expression.To help meet, through graduate work, the increasing demands for competent professional economists in industry, commerce, government and education.Courses cover general economic theory, environmental economics, monetary theory, international economics, public finance, labor economics, economic development, comparative economic systems, econometrics, and industrial organization.

  The undergraduate program in Economics at the University of Montana equips students with quantitative, research, and writing skills that are highly marketable and can be applied in a wide variety of settings. In fact, economics is among the top ten college majors in terms of average starting salary earned. Many of our economics majors choose careers in business, government or the non-profit sector, while others move on to advanced degrees in economics, law, and public policy. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Montana

Submit official transcripts, academic records, diplomas, national examination results, certificates or degrees received from all secondary, post-secondary, university and/or professional schools. All academic records must be in the original language accompanied by an English translation. The applicant may make the translation themselves. TOEFL iBT - 70 or higher, TOEFL PBT - 525 or higher, IELTS - 6.0 or higher. To be eligible for admission, freshman students must have the equivalent of a 2.5 GPA.
