About the course

Accounting is often described as the language of business'. It seeks to provide managers and external users with the vital information necessary to understand and evaluate the financial position and performance of an organisation.

  By studying accounting at the Business School, you will develop capability and credibility across a broad spectrum of careers, opening the door to many other markets and professions where the ability to understand and interpret financial information is key.

  Our long tradition of excellence in accounting teaching and research is maintained through strong engagement with the profession, leading firms and industry.

  In the 2021 QS World University Rankings our accounting and finance subject areas were ranked in the top 25 in the world.

  You will learn how to combine practical and analytical skills to prepare and communicate financial accounts and reports in accordance with accounting principles and international accounting standards.

  The Bachelor of Advanced Computing/Bachelor of Commerce is a combined undergraduate coursework degree that will develop your knowledge and skills in computing while cultivating business expertise. Underpinned by critical analytical and leadership skills, this course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society.

  You will complete core units that cover the skills needed to work as a computing professional, along with a major from the Advanced Computing disciplinary pool and advanced computing elective units.

How to apply

Entry requirements for The University of Sydney

Admission this course is on the basis of the following criteria:

  a secondary education qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), or approved higher education study, including approved preparation courses.

  TOEFL - IBT score A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 20 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 22 in Writing

  IELTS score -A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.5 in each band

  TOEFL - PBT score A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 5.0 in Writing

  IB Diploma - 36

  International ATAR – 95

  Prerequisites - From 2020, it will also apply to international students undertaking a secondary education qualification or an approved preparation or foundation program, in Australia (this includes Australian state and territory year 12 qualifications and foundation programs undertaken outside Australia).
