About the course
Intellectual property law deals with legal issues relating to products of the mind. Such products include literature, music, art, trademarks, inventions, manufacturing processes, and technological know-how. Intellectual property attorneys engage in a variety of tasks including obtaining legal protection for intellectual property, litigation to protect intellectual property assets, client counseling with regard to developing, protecting and utilizing intellectual property and licensing intellectual property. Intellectual Property is available as an Area of Focus and Concentration. Students interested in pursuing an Area of Focus do not need to enroll and no certificate is available upon graduation. Rather, Areas of Focus are recommended by Suffolk Law faculty to provide guidance to students about courses and extracurriculars that will help prepare you for legal practice in that subject area.
