Our program brings together a broad array of faculty in many areas of molecular genetics, evolutionary biology, and genomics into one group. A graduate degree in Genetics from UGA will put you at the forefront of this scientific revolution.

　　Research in genetics has brought about one of the major scientific revolutions of humankind. The advent of recombinant DNA technology provided the tools to isolate, sequence and characterize genes, the building blocks of life. Evolutionary biology has allowed us to reconstruct the history and selective pressures acting to shape those genes. In the past ten years, a remarkable synthesis of molecular and evolutionary genetics has taken place and created the field of genomics, which promises unprecedented scientific breakthroughs in medicine and agriculture. Entry requirements for University of Georgia

Coursework taken at the tertiary level, which lists the name of the courses, grades, credits and etc.

　　We do not accept evaluation reports from external evaluation agencies

　　Photocopied and faxed transcripts are not accepted

　　We require an original stamp from the issuing institution

　　Submit transcripts from each institution you have attended

　　Letters of recommendation

　　The University of Georgia will accept satisfactory scores on either the TOEFL or IELTS language proficiency examinations for admission to graduate programs. TOEFL scores can be submitted electronically by the testing agency. IELTS scores must be send by paper. Minimum TOEFL score requirement: overall score of 80 with at least 20 on speaking and writing. Minimum IELTS score requirement: overall band-width of 6.5, with no single band (score) below 6.0.
